dasch00 @ 03:31 pm: Join, Post and Share!
To date we have five official members of the GAFNE on-line community, but no new journal posts, only replies to my initial post. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions about how to join Live Journal or the GAFNE community once you have set up a free account with Live Journal. I'm happy to answer any questions about posting, replying to posts, setting up user picture(s) etc. If you are not joining because you don't understand something, please ask and I will do my best to help. As with anything new, it takes some time to get familiar with how it works, but hopefully in time we'll have a nice on-going community to share good stories and important information as well as serve a place where new (and longtime) adopters can come to post questions and concerns which can be answered by more knowledgeable members.

Here is a quick how to -

Steps 1-5:

#1 Start by joining Live Journal by clicking here.

You will need to select a username and password. A good idea so we can quickly recognize one another is to use your grey's name or first initial + last name.

#2 Once you have a user name and password you will need to join the GAFNE community. You can do this by going to here and clicking on user info on the left hand side.

#3 Once on the user info page click on the link that says "click here" (http://www.livejournal.com/community/join.bml?comm=gafne) to join this community. This will launch a request to join which I will approve.

#4 If you have not already set your user picture icon, do so by:

Once logged in to your own LJ account, go to manage then user pictures on the user info page. You will be able to browse and upload your photos (up to 3 for free accounts, more for paying members). If you need help cropping and or resizing a photo to the necessary specifications, just e-mail it to me and I'll format it for you and e-mail it back.

#5 Post a message!

Again, once logged in to you LJ account, and on the user info page, either click on the pencil icon to
post a message or select journal then update on the top left hand menu. If on your own user info page, you will need to make sure you switch to GAFNE on the post to part at the very bottom of the page. If you this off of the GAFNE user info page it will automatically set to post to the GAFNE page. You can select your user icon if you want to use an image other than your default one and do a spell check or preview before posting. Once you are ready click on Update Journal. Your message will appear on the top of the page as the most recent post and will show your user icon, assuming you've uploaded an image.

Sign up and post away! :)

dasch00 @ 08:03 pm: The Dyson Animal - A must have for pet owners
Just had to share that we bought a Dyson Animal vacuum this weekend and it is truly as wonderful as all the reviews say and then some. We were in the market for a new vac and since in addition to our two cats, one of whom is a long haired breed, we now have our wonderful grey, Dascher, we figured we'd check out The Animal. After some research we were convinced enough to give it a try and bought it yesterday. We had to try it out right away, even though the carpets had just been thoroughly vacuumed within the past 24 hours. I basically just wanted to test it out and make sure it worked properly, but as soon as it passed over the carpet it started sucking up all sorts of stuff that must have been buried deep down inside the carpet. The canister quickly filled up by the time the test run was done. We were simply blown away by how well it works. And I thought the carpets were perfectly clean! Turns out our Hoover Turbo Wind Tunnel wasn't performing very well at all. I'm now thoroughly convinced this is the best vacuum out there, and The Animal is awesome for pet owners. Even if greys don't shed much, this vac is definitely worth every penny. It's easy to use and comes with all sorts of handy tools and accessories which make the vacuum very practical not just for floors, but steps, furniture and much more.
